Going to the zoo is a fun time for everyone. You get to see animals that you likely would never be able to otherwise while spending a fun day outside with your family. However, a trip to the zoo can quickly be ruined by things forgotten at home and the strain of having to lug things around. Luckily, with a little bit of planning, you’ll have the best trip to the zoo yet.
Plan Ahead
One of the most important parts of going to the zoo is making sure that everyone has everything they need. While you could try to throw everything together the night before the trip, you’ll likely find that you forgot a lot of stuff. Instead, start thinking about what you need for your trip a few days ahead of time, and start a list. A list will help you stay organized and ensure that you have everything you need.
Bring a Wagon
When you spend an entire day at the zoo, there will be things you and your family need. Perhaps it’s sunscreen, water, or even a cooler. Regardless of what it is, you likely won’t want to carry it around the entire time you’re at the zoo. Instead, bring a wagon that you can pull behind you.
A wagon can also be good to pull tired children. Sometimes, they just can’t seem to walk any further and need to take a rest. So, instead of stopping every five minutes for them to sit down, put them in the wagon and keep on going. If you buy a wagon with spring loaded casters, your kids will enjoy the ride a bit more. The casters absorb the shock and motion of the wheels going over the ground and reduce the amount of bumping around they’ll do.
Wear Good Shoes
No matter how badly your child wants to wear their favorite princess shoes, don’t let them. Zoos require a lot of walking, and the wrong pair of shoes can quickly ruin the entire day. Ensure everyone wears good walking shoes with adequate support.
